Walking the Walled City during Basant
- Rooftops in Androon Lahore fill up from late morning on Basant days. Plan the walk for the morning, then head up to your rooftop.
- Look up: loose string and falling kites are common in the lanes. Keep children close and wear a scarf or collar.
- Lanes get very crowded on the weekends of 30 to 31 January and 6 to 7 February 2027. Weekdays are easier.
- 5 February 2027 (Kashmir Day) is a public holiday and no-flying day on our Basant calendar, which makes it a good day for a long walk.
- Do not ride a motorcycle through the lanes without the mandatory safety rod.
- Carry small cash for entry tickets, chai and rickshaws.
Safety
Watch for fast motorbikes in narrow lanes, keep valuables in a front pocket and avoid walking alone after dark in quiet alleys.
