What to look for when buying dor:
- The dor is made of cotton (no glass, metal, nylon or chemical coating)
- It is sold in Pinna form — the round ball-shaped winding (NOT a charkhi/spool)
- Each Pinna has a QR Code printed on it — this is the official verification mark for 2027
- The vendor has a valid registration from the Deputy Commissioner Office, Lahore

2. What Is Maanjha? (The Approved Kind)
The term Maanjha refers to a coating applied to kite string to make it stronger for kite battles. The only APPROVED maanjha under the Ordinance is:

Traditional maanjha made with natural ingredients is allowed. Any maanjha that incorporates glass powder, metal filings or any cutting material is the "sharp maanjha" that is categorically banned.

❌ 1. Charkhi (سپول / چرخی)
A Charkhi is a spool (typically motorised) used to wind kite string. It is completely banned under the Punjab Kite Flying Ordinance 2025.
Why it is dangerous: The high-speed spinning of a Charkhi can cause the string to whip at extreme speeds, causing severe lacerations to hands, arms and throats of bystanders.
The only legal form of dor storage is a Pinna — the round, ball-shaped hand-wound mesh of dor. Pinna is approved; Charkhi is not.

- Kite flyers whose string crosses another flyer's sharp maanjha
- Children and pedestrians in the path of fallen string
The Punjab Kite Flying Ordinance 2025 defines Sharp Maanjha as "glass or metal-coated string" and places it in the category of strictly prohibited materials.
