5 September 2026 — Registration Opens for Kite Manufacturers

Registration for Basant 2027 opened on 5 September 2026 for kite manufacturers, with traders and sellers also covered by the framework. Requirements listed on the official portal: valid CNIC, email address, registration fee receipt and business premises verification. Registration is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Individual kite flyers do not need to register.

2025 — Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif signed the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025, formally ending the 2007 ban and establishing a new regulatory framework for kite flying in Punjab. Key provisions: only Patang and Gudda permitted, Charkhi banned, sharp Maanjha banned, motorcycle safety rods mandatory, QR code registration required.

📜 Regulatory Framework — Punjab Ordinance 2025 Key Points

For ongoing reference, here are the key provisions of the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025 that govern Basant 2027:

• ✅ PERMITTED kites: Patang (max 35"W × 30"L / 4.5 Githi) and Gudda (max 40"W × 34"L / 1.5 Tawa)
• ❌ BANNED: Any kite exceeding the above dimensions, and the Charkhi (dor reel) — dor only in Pinna form
• ❌ BANNED dor: Sharp Maanjha, glass-coated, metal-coated, chemical-coated string, nylon string
• ✅ REQUIRED: QR code on each Pinna (kite spine) — buy only kites that carry one
