🪁 Can Overseas Pakistanis Fly Kites at Basant?
Yes. Individual members of the public, including overseas Pakistanis, do not need any registration or licence to fly kites during Basant 2027. Registration under the Punjab framework applies to businesses in the kite industry: manufacturers, traders and sellers.
What You Must Do as a Kite Flyer
- Fly only during the permitted window: 29 January to 7 February 2027 (not on 5 February)
- Use only approved kites: Patang (max 35" × 30") or Gudda (max 40" × 34")
- Use only permitted cotton dor. Sharp maanjha, glass, metal, chemical-coated and nylon string are banned
- Buy kites and dor only from registered sellers. Check for the QR code on each Pinna
- If you ride a motorcycle in Lahore during Basant, a safety rod is mandatory
