Basant 2027: Kite Manufacturer Registration Opens
Lahore, 5 September 2026. Registration for kite manufacturers ahead of Basant 2027 has opened. Under the Punjab kite flying law, only registered manufacturers may make kites and string, and every legal kite must carry a QR code that traces it back to its maker.

بسنت 2027 کے لیے پتنگ سازوں کی رجسٹریشن 5 ستمبر 2026 سے شروع ہو گئی ہے۔ صرف رجسٹرڈ پتنگ ساز پتنگ اور ڈور بنا سکتے ہیں اور ہر پتنگ پر QR کوڈ لازمی ہے۔

Why it matters
Registration and QR codes let the authorities trace dangerous string back to its source. Making, storing or selling banned kites or string can bring 5 to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to Rs5 million, and selling without registration can bring 1 to 5 years or a fine.
